Peru Update #2 - Sunday, February 4, 2007

What a great week!  The dedication of the home on Saturday was an awesome experience.  There was huge crowd, including politicians, former residents of the home, etc.)!  The electricity was turned on 20 minutes prior to the ceremony.  We had to test the PA system, LCD projector, etc. but it all worked great.  Sheryl and Stacy sang a beautiful song, "There Are No Orphans of God," while we showed a PowerPoint presentation from the home.  Paul Cole, Nancy ColeĀ“s son from Texas, was there as well as Toni and Wayne Parks from Florida.  She donated the money for the first building in 2001 (the same site where the new home is being built).

We presented the first "Daughters of the King Wall of Honor" recognitions to Pastor Lilliam, Nancy Cole (in memory), Toni Parks and Sheryl Baird.  These awards will be placed throughout the home to encourage the women to recognize their standing as "Daughters of the King."  In the future, we plan to honor residents of the home who complete the program or show exceptional progress, as well as other volunteers who assist with the ministry here.

We have hired armed security guards 24 hours a day.  This will add app. $1,000 per month to the cost of the project.  However, it is necessary at this point to protect the work that has been done.  Of course, the Mayor of La Victoria was there and promised to provide security "when money is available."
The first floor looks incredible.  Much work was done this past week and our crew worked so hard to get things ready for the dedication.  They were all awesome!

On Saturday night, I spoke to thousands of people at the conference and a live world-wide television audience.  The conference sessions are going to be broadcast many times on the Christian Global Network and on cable here in Lima.  What an incredible opportunity.  I "preached" about the need to support the home and the restoration process in the lives of the ladies and girls at the home.  I used the example of Nehemiah re-building the walls of Jerusalem to protect the re-built temple.  We are believing for an incredible response of support for the home, for much remains to be done.

I hope that many of you will be able to attend the presentation from our team showing the video of the dedication and the Saturday night presentation.  We took LOTS of pictures and Bob was videotaping every move, including nose picking!  We have many wonderful stories to share and we so much appreciate the prayers and support from everyone back home.  We hope that many of you will be able to come in August to see what God is doing here.  If you need more information about the project, please contact us immediately.

Keep on praying.  See you soon!
